20 Weeks |
 |
Your baby is now 17-18 centimetres long and weighs about 280 grammes, over half a pound. Your baby’s nerve cells for taste, feeling, seeing and hearing are all growing more complex and your baby will be able to hear noises outside the womb, not just the noise from your own body. Your will gradually learn to recognise your voice and that of your partner, and noises that she becomes familiar with now will often be soothing for her after birth. Legs are getting close to the final length and are very proportionate at this point. The skeleton is getting harder and the hands are getting stronger. Around this time a white, cream-cheesy moisturizer called vernix coats every inch of her skin, keeping it smooth and wrinkle-free for the next 20 weeks as she floats in a warm bath of amniotic fluid.
