Week 13
If you're having a girl, she now has approximately 2 million eggs in her ovaries; she will have only a million by the time she's born.

Week 14
Lanugo (very fine hair) covers the baby's body and will continue to grow until 26 weeks gestational age - generally this will be
shed prior to birth. It's purpose is to help protect baby's skin while in all that water!

Week 15
Although you've probably gained between 2.2 - 4.5 kilograms, the fetus weighs in at around only 70 grams. It is
11 centimetres long, crown to rump.

Week 16
You might hear the tiny thumps of his heartbeat with an external monitor now. The genitals are developed sufficiently
that an experienced sonographer might be able to determine if your baby is a boy or a girl!

Week 17
your baby weighs about 4.97 ounces (140gm) and is 5.12 inches (13cm) long. He or she has a much more normal "human" appearance now

Week 18
The top of your uterus is just below your belly button now ( about one inch below) and is now about the size of a
Canteloupe melon !

Week 19
Baby has learnt to swallow! And your baby's Kidneys continue to produce urine.

Week 20
You are half way! The nerve cells for taste, smell, hearing, seeing, and touch are now developing in specialized areas
of the brain. Production slows down as existing nerve cells grow larger and make more complex connections.

Week 21
Your baby now weighs about 10.5 oz. ( 300grms) And Is about 7.2 inches( 18cm) long. About the size of a large Banana!

Week 22
If your baby is male his testes begin their descent to the scrotum.

Week 23
If your baby were to be born now, she/he would have a small chance of survival (about 16 per cent) with the right care.
Every day in the womb makes a difference at this stage.
If she was born at 24 weeks her chance of survival would rise to 44 per cent.

Week 24
Baby's lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" and cells that produce surfactant, a substance that helps
the air sacs inflate easily.
